Colorful Illustrations To Make People Happy

Surrounded by books, Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils, and  tools of the trade, I am at total piece when I play my favorite music and explore my mind or surroundings for inspiration. Of course nothing inspires my drawings more than walking through the woods with my dog, Dolby.  A little stream, a batch of wildflowers, or birds singing, are all fair game for my subjects.

Right now, illustration is making a comeback. Everyone knows Photoshop can make something look falsely better than it really is. Illustrations don’t idealize—they bring out the fun, the true reality behind the real thing. Why is illustration often more compelling than photographs? I believe it’s because hand-drawing is so often done with love.

So illustrations are now used in menus . . . in catalogs . . . in graphic novels . . . even in cookbooks. My favorite illustrated cookbook is Salt, Fat, Acid Heat. My dream is to illustrate someone's cookbook. Will it be yours?

My style is fresh, colorful and whimsical—and designed to inspire joy. And while I enjoy sketching everything from fashion to flowers, my favorite theme to draw is food and beverage, or anything from the garden. I also enjoy drawing animals, including farm animals, wild animals and family pets.

If you have an illustration project, I’d be happy to help! Or, if you like my style and want to commission a work of art for yourself or as a gift, please contact me.
